Plaka, Almirida, Chania and the local area
Villa Daymer is only a 30 minute drive or bus ride from Chania (pronounced Hania) which has a famous old Venetian harbour with waterside bars where you can chill out and watch the world go by. Venture a little way from the waterfront and you will find a maze of streets where you will see traders selling their wares, old and new. The island of Crete itself is one of the largest and most southern island of Greece, you will certainly not be bored with many things to see and do. For the children, and even big children, there is a water park near Chania offering a great day out with its numerous slides and pools. After visiting there, return to the peaceful settings and surroundings of Villa Daymer. For the grown ups, Crete's history goes back to the Minoan times 3000 years ago - There are many historic sites and buildings, perhaps the most famous being Knonossos. Nature at its bestFor those who love to walk or simply to view the flora and fauna, spring is the best time of the year to go with the wild flowers looking spectacular and along with the accompanying aromas from the wild herbs this really is something to behold.
